Don't be Late for the Following Eight

Eight events/notices that are occurring in the next week or two. There is something for everyone: toddler to senior citizen.

Get out your calendar and marking pen...there is a lot going on in the next week or two and you don't want to miss any of it. A Great Time in the Borough!!!

 

The next-to-last “Movie in the Park” is this Friday, August 31. The Lorax will begin playing in Cribbs Field at dusk. Dusk is earlier now so be sure to be on time. There will be popcorn and drinks from Daily's. Be sure to bring a chair and/or blanket so you'll be comfortable. You can even wear your jammies if you like.

A Multi-Artist - Multi-Media Exhibit, presented by the East Suburban Art League (ESAL), will be on display at the Boulevard Gallery September 1 through 29. The Opening Reception will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday in the Boulevard Gallery,on Allegheny River Blvd., and is open to the public. Julie Steinhaus will cater the occasion. You know it is really Fall when CCD notices are made. St. Joseph, Verona CCD Religious education forms for new children in grades K–8 may be obtained by calling the Religious Education Office at 412-828-7715. Classes will begin Monday, September 10 from 6:30 to 7:45 pm.

 

Did you receive your Riverview Reporter yet? You should have. I received mine last week. There are lots of interesting tidbits included, such as days off. The first day off will be Monday, Sept. 3, otherwise known as Labor Day. If you did not get yours yet, call the Central Office at 412-828-1800 ext 4080 to ask about getting your Riverview Reporter.

 

Attention Senior Citizens: Do you like to attend Riverview events such as football and basketball games plays and displays? Complimentary “Gold Card Activities Passes” are available at Riverview School District, 701 Tenth Street, Oakmont. The Gold Card will entitle the holder to free admission to most school sponsored events. To qualify for a pass one must be 65 years of age or older, or be retired due to disabilities.

 

The next VIP (Verona In Progress) meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 pm. There will be discussion from the floor about various plans and concerns. This is open to all you would like to see Verona moving forward and making improvements.

 

Tony DeLuca invites you and your family to wind up your summer fun at his 28th Annual Family Picnic. The picnic will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 from 1 to 6 pm in the Penn Hills Park off Hunter Road. There will be hot dogs, spaghetti & meatballs, corn on the cob, beer & drinks, salad, dessert, handmade ice ball, plus entertainment. All are welcome!

 

And finally the big event of the Fall Season...Verona' Fall Festival” which is being held Sept. 6, 7, and 8. There will be rides (don't forget to buy your tickets early, they are sooo much less expensive), games, raffles, bingo, and food....lots of food and it is delicious. There will be more information about the Fall Festival later, but set aside an evening for dinner and fun.
