Lenten Services and Activities

Ash Wednesday Lenten services and suppers.

The first sign that Spring is really on its way is Ash Wednesday, which will be this Wednesday, February 13.

The Ash Wednesday services and those activities that follow are hopefully considered a God-inspired opportunity to build fellowship in the Christian community.

Verona services include a combine service with fellow believers from Trinity Lutheran, Verona United Methodist, Apostles Lutheran, Verona Presbyterian, Rosedale United Methodist, and St. Joseph churches, which will be hosted by Verona Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of South and Second Avenues, at 7 pm.  The service will include the imposition of ashes and the celebration of Holy Communion. An offering will be received during worship with the contributions being divided between the Summer Lunch Program) and the Community Food Pantry housed in the Verona United Methodist Church building.

A series of Simple Suppers will also be hosted Wednesdays, February 20 through March 20 by Oakmont Presbyterian church, located on the corner of Pennsylvania and Fifth Street, Oakmont.  Soup suppers (6:15-6:50) include wedding soup, vegetable beef, stuffed pepper, chili and ham & bean.  The theme of the mid-week Lenten services (7 -7:45 pm) will be Rooted, Built Up and Established in Faith (from Colossians 2:6-7).
