Reminders: Community Dinner & Kennywood

The Twin Boro Health Ministry keeps serving Community dinners each month and What have the Twin Boros been doing for the last 100 years?

Hopefully you will have remembered that the Community Dinners are held the last Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall of Verona United Methodist Church, located on the corner of Herron and Center avenues.

The meals, provided by various churches and organization within the Twin Boros,  are always fantastic and filling.

This is always a good time to get-together with friends and neighbors and enjoy kibitzing and sharing the local goings on (otherwise known as gossip).

One Hundred Years of going to Kennywood every summer. That is exactly what folks in Verona and Oakmont have doing....every second Wednesday in July they gather the clan, the picnic basket, and pre-buy their tickets and sometimes their streetcar or bus passes to Kennywood.

Times have changed, Kennywood has changed, prices have changed, but the memories and the fun keep being remade every year and they are priceless.

This year tickets for and All Day Pass are $25 (normally $38 at the gate). Seniors (55+) get a break. Their tickets are $15 for an All Day Pass. Tickets will be on sale in front of Giant Eagle and various other places throughout the communities during business hours from Friday, July 6 through Tuesday, July 10. Remember: CASH ONLY when buying tickets.

The Bus schedule is as follows: Bus 1 departs from Oakmont at 10:15 am (loading starts at 9:30 am). Bus 2: departs Verona at 11:15 am. The Return Bus departs Kennywood at 9 pm.

Be sure to pack your picnic basket, and take extra clothes in case you get too wet on the water rides, and please take your nice, polite selves to the best memory making day this summer.
