Verona 5K -

The route is set, the start time designated, and registration is underway for Verona’s 2nd Annual 5K run/walk.  Proceeds from the 5K will benefit the Verona Streetscape Revitalization project.

The picture accompanying this blog shows the route which has changed from last year….no more stony roads and a run over the viaduct into the Edgewater plan has been added.

Start time is 9 am on Saturday, June 8.  Registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 am.

Registration forms and checks are due by May 28.  This helps with the purchasing of Tee Shirts for the first 100 participants (add the size desired on the form please).  For those who preregister by May 28 the fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.  Registration on the morning of the 5K is $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12 years old.  Registration forms should be mailed to: Verona 5K, P.O. Box 276, Verona 15147.

An added feature for the serious runner is the event will be scored by The Runner’s High using the ChampionChip Timing System.  On race day, runners will be issued a rental computer chip which is attached to the shoe lace and worn throughout the race.  Special mats at the finish will record a finishing time for each chip.  All rental chips must be returned at the finish line.  There is a $35 fee for each lost chip.
