What to do?!

Verona is a busy borough and has plenty to do. See what's coming up in the next few days.

There are a number of events going on in Verona this week.

  • The Farmers' Market will open on Thursday, June 14 in Verona Municipal Park beside the Municipal building. The farmers will be there between 2 and 6 pm. There will be wholesome, freshly grown foods and other items for sale. The Farmers' Market will be open every Thursday through October 11.

  • Thursday, June 14 is Flag Day so show your country pride and fly your flag.

  • Verona Flower and Garden Club Open Garden Tour will begin at the corner of South Avenue and Allegheny River Blvd. where maps will be distributed. Designated gardens will be open between 10 am and 1 pm. There is no charge for this event. (See previous blog for more information).

  • Fathers' Day is this Sunday, June 17. What would your father like the most....peace and quiet, tickets to a baseball game, to bar-b-que or to go out to eat, to have someone else do chores such as cutting the grass (a personal coupon is good for that), to be pampered all day or to be left alone, but probably not a tie.

  • The benches at the newly refurbished Riverbank Park need to be painted in primary colors. Paint will be supplied. Contact Rhoda Gemellas-Worf at rhoda.wf2@verizon.net, if you would like to help with this project. While you are taking the Open Garden Tour might be a great time to stop by our Riverside Park and see the improvements that have been made and enjoy the view.

  • Also new is the events sign located on the corner of South and Second avenues by Cribbs Field. Special kudos to Luke and Kathy Mattocks for keeping this sign and the one at the end of South Avenue up-to-date.

  • Another reminder: Verona's Bocce League meets every Wednesday at 6 pm at the bocce court in Cribbs Field. If you are interested in joining the fun and hilarity just show up or contact Frank Santucci at 412-828-9205.
