Congressman Altmire to Host Job Fair on Wednesday

The job and career fair runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features employers from around the region.

U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire, D-McCandless, will host a job and career fair Wednesday at the Community College of Beaver County in Monaca.

Altmire's district covers Plum Borough.

The event is expected to bring together job providers from the region who are hiring or will be hiring in the near future. The job fair will also include workshops on how social media is changing the job search, resume writing, interview skills, tips for switching careers, and how to learn about and apply for jobs with the federal and state governments, according to a news release.

The day will begin with a panel discussion on high-growth industries in the region and how job seekers can take part. No pre-registration is required. 

Some of the employers confirmed to participate include Westinghouse, Shell, PA Cyber, PPG, Consol Energy, BNY Mellon, UPMC, BASF, Highmark, EQT, Medrad, Michael Baker, UPS, GE Hitachi, Ellwood Quality Steels, Prudential, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Calgon Carbon, TMK Ipsco Koppel, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Secret Service, Heritage Valley Health, ATI Allegheny Ludlum, Traco/Alcoa Windows, Nova Chemicals, Allegheny County Airport Authority, Comcast Cable, Coventry Health Care, Federal Air Marshall Service, Jameson Health System and MedExpress.

The job fair takes place in the athletic dome at the community college.
