Obituary - Agnes Smith Lambie McAllister

Agnes Smith Lambie McAllister has passed away.

Agnes Smith Lambie McAllister was born in Calderbank, Scotland to Janet Jarvie and James McAllister, on May 5 1922.  She immigrated to Baden, Beaver County, in 1929.  Mrs. McAllister graduated from Ambridge High School, attended business school, CCAC and the University of Pittsburgh.

She married Robert W. McAllister of Tarentum PA in 1943.  He died in 1963 at age 46.  After his death, she worked for Westinghouse Plant Apparatus Division and part time for the Renaissance and Baroque Society.  She served on the Participant Advisory Board, Center for Aging, and Population Health of the University of Pittsburgh, and as president of the Fortnightly Club.

She is survived by her son, William James McAllister, and his wife, Janet Sarbaugh of Cheswick, PA

Mrs. McAllister moved to Longwood at Oakmont in 2005.  She cherished the Longwood community and participated in its many activities up until the day of her death.  Her most distinguishing characteristics were her interest in learning, her intellectual curiosity, and her enjoyment of friends and family.

A memorial service will be held in the ballroom in Longwood at Oakmont on Tuesday, September 11, at 3 pm.   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any memorial gifts be made to Longwood at Oakmont.  In her funeral instructions Mrs. McAllister wrote:  “please everyone, don’t cry over my departure--celebrate me!  Wear bright colors to my funeral service and rejoice!!”
