Two local obits.

Barbara Ryan Ride

Barbara Ryan Ride, of Longwood at Oakmont, died on February 6, 2013, at the age of 87. 

Barbara was the beloved wife for 65 years of Frederick Glenn Ride; loving mother of Marcia (Lewis) Beckwith, Margaret Peterson, Nancy Lynn Ride, Judith (John) Murray; sister of the late Robert Ryan; grandmother of Laura (Raymond) Buchner, Greg (Jennifer) Beckwith, Erica and Mark Peterson, Kimberly Murray and Gretchen (David) Miller; great-grandmother of Raymond and Anderson; sister-in-law of Virginia Ryan.

Barbara was a graduate of Geneva College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.  She was a member of Oakmont Presbyterian Church and the Oakmont Country Club. Barbara was a former member of the Nurses Association of Oakmont. 

She was a loyal friend to many and deeply devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013, 11 am, in the Ballroom at Longwood at Oakmont, with a luncheon following the memorial service. 

If desired, the family suggests memorial donations to the Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Avenue, Oakmont, PA  15139.

John J. “Butch” Bregar

John J. “Butch” Bregar, of Penn Hills, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the age of 69..

John was the beloved husband of Charlene W. Bregar; son of Elizabeth Bregar and the late John Bregar; caring father of Carrie (Robin and Taylor Maddox) Bregar, Debbie (Tony) Caggiano, and Christine (Victor) Giordano; loving grandfather of Marc and Troy Caggiano; survived by sister Toni Jean (Tom) Boland. He is also survived by many lifelong, loyal friends.

In his retired years he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, fishing and working at PNC Park.  

Friends will be received Saturday 3-5 pm & Sunday 2-6 pm at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA, 15139.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Monday in St. Joseph’s Parish in Verona, officiated by Father Ed Wichman.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
