Daniel R. Moore, of Oakmont, PA, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the age of 62.
Daniel was the loving son of Mary Elizabeth (Klemstine) Moore and the late Daniel L. Moore, dear brother of Barbara (Craig) Biddle, Betsy (Carl) Mauro, David (Marty) Moore, Richard (Mary Raivel) Moore, Joe Moore, and the late Tommy Moore, beloved uncle of Rachel and Hannah Moore and Bryce and Brenna Mauro.
Dan co-founded McIntyre & Moore, Booksellers in Harvard Square. It became the preeminent academic used bookstore in the Boston area. Friend and fellow bookseller Jean Paquette, Vice President of Powells Booksellers, Chicago said about Dan, "For 25 years, Dan ran the finest used bookstore in Boston, a region renowned for its used bookstores." In fact, in a 2006 brochure aimed at prospective students, Tufts University described McIntyre & Moore as follows: "McIntyre & Moore can lay claim to being the finest serious academic used bookstore in the United States. A devoted Pirates and Steelers fan, though Dan spent most of his adult life in Chicago and Boston, his heart never really left Pittsburgh.
Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 3-8 pm at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Blessing Service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 9:30 am in the funeral home.
