Two local obits.

Dr. William P. Coffman

Dr. William P. Coffman died Friday morning, January 25, 2013, in his home in Oakmont, at the age of 71. 

Born January 7, 1942 in Vandergrift, PA, Bill was the son of the late Harold D. Coffman Sr. and Doris Page Coffman; husband of 47 years to Paulette Behner Coffman; father of Kendal (Dave) Kadylak, of Oakmont, Dr. Stephan (Ruth) Coffman, of Hood River, Oregon, and Mara (Pete) McManus, of Corvallis, Oregon; brother of Lois Knabb, of Apollo; brother in-law of Francis Coffman, of Leechburg; grandfather of Isabella, Olivia, Genevieve Kadylak, Victor, Tsadiku Coffman, and Lincoln McManus.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Coffman Jr.

An Entamologist, Bill was a biology Professor for 43 years at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was the foremost expert on Chironomidae.  His work lives-on today as his collection is now housed at the La Selva Biological Station of the Organization for Tropical Studies in Costa Rica. 

Additionally, Bill was an avid stamp collector, a WWII history enthusiast, as well as truly enjoying classical music, especially Lieder.

Friends and relatives will be received during a memorial visitation on Sunday, January, 27, 2013 from 1-5 pm at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the La Selva Biological Station of the Organization for Tropical Studies in Costa Rica.

Eva Prince

Eva Prince, formerly of Cheswick and Oakmont, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in Bellevue, Washington, at the age of 96.

Eva was the beloved wife of the late James Prince; beloved mother of Carol (late John) Dema; grandmother of Scott Dema and Christian (Jennifer) Dema; and great-grandmother of Jacob; and sister of the late Edith Fern, Fiore, Patrick, Hector, Nicholas, Anthony and James Tamburro.  Eva is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A former member of St. lrenaeus Catholic Church, Eva was a welder during World War II and enjoyed walking and golf. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, as being very understanding, and she was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call from 10 to 11 am Monday, January 28, 2013, in BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Monday in St. Irenaeus Church, Oakmont.  The Family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222.
