Edith C. Roney

Edith C. Roney, of Oakmont died on Monday, October 15, 2012, at the age of 91. 

Edith was the dear wife of the late John H. Roney, II; loving mother of Nina (Robert) Segelson, John (Madonna) Roney, III, and Mary Anne (Michael) Jonnet; grandmother of Terrence and Carli Segelson, Anne Marie (Angelo) Giancola, Mark (Leah), Gary (Meaveen), and John (Danielle) Roney, Bill and Mia Orbin, and Nina Jonnet; great-grandmother of Luna Orbin, Dylan, Ryan, Aydan, Davin, Lily, and Brendan Roney; sister of the late Dr. Frank Costa, Alice Thompson, Mary Costa, Sara Homan, and Charles Costa.

Edith was a member at Oakmont United Methodist Church. 

Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am in the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials to the Plum Senior Center, 499 Center New Texas Road, Pittsburgh, 15239.

David “Dave” Matthews

David “Dave” Matthews, of Verona (recent Longwood resident), died on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the age of 95. 

Dave was the dear husband for 68 years of the late Rebecca (Fleming) Matthews; loving father of Rev. David (Barbara) Matthews, Jr., of Glenshaw, Carol Harris (Dr. James Tobin) of Murrysville, and Donald (Velma) Matthews of Murrysville; grandfather of Cheryl, Scott, Peter, Kelli, Lance, Josh, and Victoria; great-grandfather of Ayla, Mara, Owen, Pete, Peter, Caroline, Mark, Shane, and Jacek. 

Dave was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Verona and belonged to the F&AM Lodge 548 where he was the oldest past master of the Lodge. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy.  He worked for Edgewater Steel for many years as Supervisor of the Welders/Millwrights. 

Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Verona.  EVERYONE PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH. 

The Family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, 701 Allegheny River Blvd., Verona, 15147 or Apostles Lutheran Church, 447 Hamil Rd, Verona 15147.
