Emma L. Sabo

Emma L. Sabo, lifelong resident of Oakmont, died Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012 at the age of 95.

Emma was born March 26, 1917, in Oakmont, to the late Max and Caroline Bumgartner Hutterer.

Emma was a member of St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont, and the Christian Mothers of the church. She was a member of the Spade & Trowel Garden Club and enjoyed the game of golf.

Emma was the beloved wife of the late Michael S. Sabo Sr.; mother of the late Michael Sabo Jr.; dear aunt of Johnny (Dorothy) Brown, of Penn Hills, and Sally (Howard) Peters, of California; great-aunt of Nancy (Richard) Muka, of Springdale, and Bryan Peffer, of Oakmont; also survived by seven other great-nieces and -nephews, 12 great-great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-great-nieces and -nephews. Emma was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Emma will be remembered for her love of people and her unending zest for life. 

Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at BURKET - TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Saturday in St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont, with Father Frank Kurimsky as celebrant. Interment will follow in Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.

Charles R. Federoff

Charles R. Federoff, lifelong resident of Indiana Township, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at the age of 73, in Consulate Healthcare of Cheswick after being ill many years.

Charles was born Aug. 9, 1938, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Russell W. and Georgia I. (Lefever) Federoff. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joann (Schneider) Federoff. He was the loving father of Ann G. (Dr. Christopher) Krupp, of Londonderry, N.H., Dr. Susan Federoff (Matthew) Morgan, of Gibsonia, Charlene E. (Jack) Burman, of Houston, Texas, Elaine I. (Patrick) Carfagna, of Ross Township, and Michael C. (Doris) Federoff, of Indiana Township; grandfather of Cassandra and Wesley Krupp, Brandon, Melissa, Katrina and Hayley Morgan, Victoria, Julia and John Burman, Andrew and Daniel Carfagna, Jessica Federoff and Evan Wienskovich; and brother of David W. Federoff, of Clayton, Ohio. Chuck is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his late parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert; and his father's second wife, Opal (Woodman) Federoff.

Charles graduated from West Deer High School in 1956 and was an outstanding guard on the football team. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and was employed by Equitable Resources for 35 years until retirement. He worked many part-time jobs also, such as Am-Gard Securities of Sharpsburg and Boyd Community Center Custodian in O'Hara. His last part-time employment was as a security guard at St. Barnabas in Gibsonia. Charles was an Indiana Township Supervisor for nine years and a Democratic Committee-man until his illness. He loved sports, and also watching when his children played sports and other activities at school.

Friends and relatives were received Thursday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Blessing service was held Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Autism Speaks, 8035 McKnight Road, Suite 301, Pittsburgh, PA, 15237.

Edna C. Gunnell

Edna C. Gunnell, of Oakmont, died on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the age of 88.

Edna was the dear wife of the late John E. Gunnell; loving mother of Barbara (James) Sipe, Kathleen Scantlebury, and Elaine Gunnell; grandmother of Kathleen, Alison, Jamie, Matt, Daniel, Peter, and Kristopher; great-grandmother of six; beloved sister of Mary Grace McConnell, Mercedith Ward, William (Lois) Mokel, and the late Helen Pitt and Carl Moritz.

The family held a private gravesite service at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10 am with Father Frank Kurmisky officiating. Interment followed next to her husband.
