Obituary - Janet. R. Demmler

Janet. R. Demmler, of Longwood at Oakmont, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the age of 79.

Janet is survived by her husband of 55 years, John H. (Jack) Demmler and by her sister, Margaret J. Rice, of Douglas, AZ. Janet is also survived by her three children, Richard H. (Nan) Demmler, of Seattle, WA; Ralph W. (Karen) Demmler, of Yardley; and Carol D. (Michael) Carty, of Sandpoint, ID; as well as by six grandsons.

Janet was born and raised in Douglas, AZ, and graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in education. She served three years as a flight attendant for American Airlines and taught elementary school for two years in Melrose, MA, before becoming a much-loved, stay-at-home mom. She served one term as president of the Women's Junior Board of Children's Hospital and one term as president of the Fox Chapel District Association. Janet and Jack were enthusiastic and wide-ranging travelers, having touched upon all seven continents. Just three months before she died, they returned from one of their several trips to the wild animal parks of Africa.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service and reception at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Longwood at Oakmont. Burial will be private.
