Obituary - Joanne (Siemon) Hixson

Joanne (Siemon) Hixson, of Springdale, died Monday morning, October 29, 2012, at UPMC St. Margaret, Aspinwall, at the age of 77.

Joanne was born August 19, 1935, in Springdale, to the late Joseph and Garnett Gibbs Siemon.

Joanne was a longtime member of Springdale United Methodist Church, served on pastor parish relations, ushered at the church and served on the administrative board of the church. She was a 1953 graduate of Springdale High School. Joanne also participated in Meals on Wheels for 32 years.

Joanne was the beloved wife for 57 years of Paul H. Hixson; dear mother of Paul M. (Charlene) Hixson, of Springdale, Daniel J. (Patti) Hixson, of Saxonburg, and Heather A. Hixson, of Harbor Creek; sister of Betty Glotnis, of New Kensington; grandmother of Troy, Megan and Heath Hixson; and sister-in-law of Jean Walker, of Cheswick. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Corporal David A. Siemon, Grant Walker and Joseph Siemon; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Siemon.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Services will be held at 10 am Thursday in Springdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Schar officiating. Interment will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Everyone please meet at the church.
