Two local obits.

John P. “Jack” Gavin

John P. “Jack” Gavin, 82 of Penn Hills died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the age of 82. 

Jack was the beloved husband for 56 years of Sandra Gavin; dear father of Cindy (Ron) Martin, Pat Gavin, Chris (Teresa) Gavin, Cathy (Karl) Cima, and Diane Gavin; grandfather of Ross (Lisa), Christy and Caitlin Martin, Julie (Chris) Chapa, Michael and Dominick Cima, Jessica, Jake, and Ellie Suich, and the late Steven J. Gavin; great-grandfather of Landon.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers.

Jack was a Gannon University graduate, after which he worked as a grocery store manager for 30 years.  He also was the owner/operator of the Sunset Inn for 15 years in Provincetown, MA. 

Friends and relatives will be received on Monday from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES. INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  Funeral Services and interment at Plum Creek Cemetery will be private for the family only.

The Family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, 15205.

Jacqueline C. Altmar

Jacqueline C. Altmar, of Fox Chapel, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the age of 83.

Jacqueline was the beloved wife of the late Frank F. Altmar, Jr.; loving mother of Joyce Schempp (Jim) Sbarbaro, Frank “Chip” Altmar, III, Leslie Altmar, and Cameron (Heather) Altmar; grandmother of Ryan, Christian, Shelby, and Patrick; sister of the late William Creighton.  Jacqueline is also survived by special family members, Rich Schempp and Paul Urban. 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10:30 am in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick.
