Obituary - Kenneth E. Nevins

Kenneth E. Nevins died on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Kenneth E. Nevins, of Oakmont (formerly of Lower Burrell), died on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in UPMC St. Margaret ER., at the age of 81. 

Ken was born on June 16, 1931 in Vandergrift.  He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Belle (Love) Nevins; beloved husband for 25 years of Jean (Palmieri) Nevins; dear father of Robert E. Nevins of Lake Placid, FL and Thomas A. Nevins of Vandergrift; step-father of Michele (Richard) Eckert of Verona and Frances Scatena of Oakmont; grandfather of Crystal and Samantha Nevins of Codogan, Preston and Kaitlyn Nevins of Florida, and Christopher, Sarah, and Benjamin Eckert of Verona. 

Mr. Nevins was a proud Korean Army Veteran obtaining the rank of Corporal while serving his country.  He was a member of the Lower Burrell American Legion, Lower Burrell VFW, and Verona Eagles.  Ken was a member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lower Burrell.  He was a member of Bethel Masonic Lodge #789 Lower Burrell, Syria Shrine, Caravan 20, Legion of Honor, and a member of the former oriental band where he served as past president.

Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-9 pm at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  Masonic Services will be held at 7 pm in the funeral home Wednesday evening.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11 am in Grace Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Foust officiating, 2751 Grant Street, Lower Burrell, 15068 (724-339-9661). EVERYONE PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH.  Private interment will take place at Deer Creek Cemetery, Cheswick.

The Family suggests memorial donations to Grace Community Presbyterian Church or Shriners Hospital, 1645 W. 8th Street. Erie, PA 16505.
