Nancy J. (Brough) Daniel passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012.

Nancy J. (Brough) Daniel

Nancy J. (Brough) Daniel, lifelong resident of Springdale, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, December 31, 2012 in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, at the age of 85.

Nancy was born on September 17, 1927 in Springdale.  She was the daughter of the late John J. and Lydia L. (Myers) Brough; devoted wife for 54 years of the late Robert E. Daniel who preceded her in death on December 20, 2004; loving and cherished mother of Connie (Henry) Morrow of Silver Spring, MD and Jan (Russ) Truby of Oakmont; proud grandmother of Catherine (Joe) Logue of Phoenixville, PA, Shea (Jim) Swatsworth, Sean (Amanda Beauduy), and Paige Truby all of Oakmont; aunt of Laura Mason and John McLaughlin both of Springdale; sister of the late Mary Elizabeth McLaughlin and Lillian Maye Armstrong.

Nancy was a lifelong member of Springdale United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir during her younger years.  In her more active days, she cooked for Lower Valley Meals on Wheels, worked at the former Harts Department store in New Kensington as a cashier in the credit office, and also worked for the former Yards of Cards in Cheswick.  Mrs. Daniel was also a member of the Springdale/Cheswick Eastern Star. 

Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 3-8 pm in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning, January 3, 2012 at 11:30 am with the Rev. Linda Chambers officiating.  Interment will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Cheswick next to her beloved husband, Bob.

The Family suggests memorial donations be made to the Presbyterian Senior Care, Woodside Place Recreation Fund, 1215 Hulton Road, Oakmont, PA, 15139. 

Alan J. O'Leary

Alan J. O'Leary, of Plum Boro (formerly of Swissvale) died in his home December 30, 2012, at the age of 47.

Alan was the beloved husband of Denise (Gmuer) O’Leary; devoted father to Tyler J. O’Leary; brother of Colleen (Bill) Lubay, Diane O’Leary, Joanne (Derek) Lohuis, and Jeff (Arlene) O’Leary; uncle of Kevin, Dusty, Jessica, Adam; great uncle of Claudia, Alex and McKenzie.

Alan was employed by Rite Aide Corp. for many years. He had a love for baseball and fishing.

Friends and relatives will be received at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 2-4, 6-9 . Services and interment will be private.

The Family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society.

James Dawson

James Dawson, age 85 of Verona, passed away on Monday December 31, 2012, at the age of 85.

James was the beloved husband to the late Mary Virginia Dawson; loving father of Gayle A. Dolan (Vito) and Diane L. Donaldson (David); proud grandfather of Joseph, Nicole, Michelle, Derek, Vito, Nino, David and Taylor.

Friends will be received Thursday January 3, 2013 from 5-8 pm in English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA ,15139.  A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am in the funeral home.  O'Leary Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Richard C. "Dick" Davis

Richard C. "Dick" Davis, of Oakmont, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the age of 84.

Dick  was the beloved husband of 54 years of Audrey (Remaley) Davis; brother of Shirley King, of Penn Hills, William (Wanda) Davis, of Cheswick, and the late Evelyn Carrigan, Agnes Miller, Robert, Samuel and George "Jim" Davis; also many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Dick served in World War II and Korean War in the Marines.  He attended Oakmont Presbyterian Church, was a longtime member of the Oakmont Elks, former member of Oakmont Fire Department and he belonged to American Legion Post 600 for more than 50 years.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 7 pm Tuesday in BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTLRNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, where services will be held at 11 am Wednesday.

Marjorie J. Riddinger

Marjorie J. Riddinger, of Calabash, N.C., formerly of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully Friday, December 28, 2012, in her home, at the age of 78.

Marjorie was the beloved wife for 58 years of Warren P. Riddinger; and loving mother of Deborah (William) Beatty, of Vandergrift, Patricia (Carl) Hindman, of Lancaster, Valerie (Robert) Swearingen, of Penn Trafford, and Robert (Mary) Riddinger, of New Hampshire; and sister of Sara (Robert) Hernley, of Wilkins Township, and Nancy (Donald) Gindlesperger, of Davidsville.  She was a loving grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of five.
Mrs. Riddinger was a former member of the Monroeville Church of Brethren and was a current member of the Calabash Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Women's Circle.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 9 am Friday in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, and Oakmont.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Eash officiating.  Interment will follow at approximately 1 p.m. in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown.
