Two local obits.

Thomas W. Angerman

Thomas W. Angerman died March 22, 2013, while vacationing in Florida, from complications following cardiac surgery, at the age of 82.

Tom leaves his loving wife of 53 years Nancy (Anne B.) and sons Timothy (Valerie), Michael (Jodi) and Douglas.  He is survived by his sister Rochelle Bell (Ron) in St. Charles, MO and Carol and Tom Giannini, stepsister and brother.  Tom was especially devoted to his grandchildren:  Caleb, Keith, Gretchen, Ryan and Joshua.

Tom, the son of Albert and Charlotte Peters Angerman, came from humble beginnings in Pigeon Creek, Monongahela, Pennsylvania.  He received his undergraduate degree in Geology from the College of Wooster and his Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh.  He worked for Huntley & Huntley, Inc., an oil and gas consulting firm, for 20 years prior to founding Angerman Associates, Inc., an independent oil and gas company operating primarily in the Appalachian Basin, in 1974.  He was a registered professional geologist and was active in a number of professional oil and gas trade associations.  Tom served two terms as President of the Independent Oil and Gas Association (IOGA) of Pennsylvania.  In 1998, he sold his company and founded a family partnership with his sons named The Baron Group, LP.

Tom served on the boards of several charitable groups and community associations; most notably Craig House (The Watson Institute), a school for special needs children, the Riverview Community Action Corporation (RCAC), and the Oakmont Water Authority.  He was an active member of the Fox Chapel and Singer Island Rotary Clubs and was a former Past Master of Bellefield Lodge 45.

Tom actively and faithfully served his Lord throughout the years and more recently as a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in New Kensington. 

He enjoyed playing golf at Oakmont Country Club, travel, fine wines, and winters in Florida.  Tom was known for his integrity and friendly, generous nature and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont (412) 828-3535.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12 at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 1090 Edgewood Rd., New Kensington, PA, 15068 at 11:00 am.  Burial will be private.

Edith M. Strathmann

Edith M. Strathmann, passed peacefully and suddenly in her home in Penn Hills, which meant so much to her, on Monday morning March 25, 2013, at the age of 78.

Edith was the beloved wife of 60 yrs. to Harold C. Strathmann; devoted mother of Don W.Strathmann (Kerry Burke); sister of Elmer Koren, the late Owen Gourley and Jean Neider; sister in law of Trudy Gourley; and survived by her best furry friend, Cloe.

Edith enjoyed animals especially her shelties, her home , her friends and her family meant everything to her.  She was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, Penn Hills.

Friends and relatives will be received at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION &ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont, on Wednesday from 2-4, 6-8 pm.  Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday morning at 11 am.  Entombment will follow in Allegheny Cemetery Pittsburgh.
