Obituary - William H. Altman

William H. Altman Sr., of Oakmont, died in his residence at the age of 84, on Monday, June 11, 2012.

William was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Blawnox, he was the son of the late Howard and Ruth (Moise) Altman. He was the dedicated and loving husband of Patricia (Harper) Altman for 61 years; loving father of William H. Altman Jr., of Oakmont, Cheryl Altman, of Springdale, Suzanne (Kenneth) McDade, of North Carolina, and Lisa (Michael) Murphy, of East Oakmont; grandfather of Ashley (Brian Schmitt) Murphy, Justin McDade, Jennifer Murphy, and other grandchildren survive; dear friend of Carl Beck; and brother of the late Kenneth and Jean Altman.

William served in the Honor Guard of General McArthur stationed in Tokyo during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Penn Hills Lodge. William retired as a senior purchasing agent for PPG, was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was an avid golfer.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Funeral service will be at 11 am Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Wilson officiating. Private interment will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Cheswick.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the VA Hospital, Aspinwall, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
