County Fire Marshal Investigates Penn Hills Structure Fire

Penn Hills and Verona fire departments knocked down a structure fire on Fifth Street early Thursday morning.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating a structure fire that broke out on Fifth Street in Penn Hills near the Verona border early Thursday morning.

The fire is the second to occur on the street in two months.

Verona and Penn Hills volunteer fire departments responded to the fire before 4 a.m. Thursday morning. The structure was located in an alley between Fifth and Sixth streets—on the block between North and Center avenues.

According to WPXI, the home was vacant and fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Another on the same block on Fifth Street during the early morning hours of March 27. That home also was vacant at the time.

No one was hurt during either incident.
