Morning Crash On Route 286 Injures One

A two-vehicle collision at Route 286 and Holiday Park Drive this morning resulted in one entrapment and injury.

A two-vehicle collision on Route 286 in Plum this morning left one man injured.

The accident took place at Holiday Park Drive around 6:40 a.m. when a pick-up truck struck a four-door car in the intersection.

Holiday Park Fire Department member Rick Borgoyne was the first on scene on his way to work.

"I was about five or 10 seconds behind the accident," he said.

Borgoyne radioed the call from his vehicle. Holiday Park and Unity Fire Departments responded, as well as Plum EMS.

The road conditions were snowy, Borgoyne said.

"It took a long time to crew out because of the roads," he said.

Each vehicle had one occupant, and the driver of the car was entrapped, Borgoyne said.

"We had a hard time getting the car open because it was locked, and the occupant was too fragile to move," he said.

Rescue crews were able to gain access by taking out the back windows.

Plum EMS transported the driver. His condition is unknown.

Fire police remained on scene to reroute traffic as crews cleared the area. The car had spun around and blocked the eastbound lane of traffic, Borgoyne said.

The pick-up truck knocked down the electronic pedestrian signal, destroying it.
