Oakmont Man Charged for Vehicle Theft, Additional Charges Are Pending

Oakmont police have charged a Sixth Street resident with stealing a Mercedes-Benz.

An Oakmont man is will be facing charges in connection with an auto theft and several other burglaries and thefts in the area.

Joseph Paul Faille, 30, of Sixth Street has been charged with receiving stolen property after being accused of stealing a Mercedes Benz, disguising it and driving it around as his own.

Faille is being held at Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond, which had not been posted as of 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4. His preliminary hearing before District Justice David Sosovicka is set for Monday at 9:15 a.m.

The 1998 forest green Mercedes Benz had been reported stolen from the 700 block of Allegheny River Boulevard on July 19.The vehicle was recovered on Sixth Street on July 25 after the rightful owners recognized it.

Oakmont police Chief David DiSanti said Faille will be charged with several more burglary, theft and receiving stolen property charges on Monday. When police searched his home, they found items matching things that were stolen in the area, as well as in Penn Hills.

DiSanti said police are in the process of returning the stolen items to their owners.

He said Faille has a criminal history in other states, and he has a history of moving into a community, blending in and committing thefts.

"It was a good investigation," DiSanti said. "Our guys did an outstanding job."
