Oakmont Police Handle Drug, DUI & Criminal Mischief Incidents

Here are the Oakmont police reports for June 25 to July 7:

Drugs

Oakmont police are continuing to investigate drug activity on the 700 block of Sixth Street in the borough.

At the end of June, a borough resident called police after witnessing a woman hiding a suspicious package across the street. Police found suspected heroin stamp bags and syringes in the package.

Police Chief David DiSanti said police arrested the woman, a Sixth Street resident whose name has not been released due to pending investigations, on a bench warrant. DiSanti also said another person was arrested on the same block of Sixth Street a week later.

"We're trying to be proactive to keep the community safe," he said.

DUI

Jamie Lee Barker, 65, of Oakmont, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, following too closely and careless driving after a June 29 accident on the 300 block of Hulton Road.

Criminal Mischief

A Pennsylvania Avenue resident reported a front entry glass was smashed with a rock on July 7.

A Fifth Street resident reported that someone was tampering with their mail on July 3.

A Hulton Road resident reported that someone dumped buckets, drywall and fence poles on their property on June 27.

Theft

A phone was reported stolen at Riverside Park on July 1.

A Washington Avenue reported a theft on June 29.

Hit and Run

Hit and run accidents were reported on Seventh Street on June 30; and Second Street and Allegheny Avenue on July 1.
