Plum Father, Son Accused of Growing Marijuana Held For Court

A father and son from Plum accused of growing marijuana will face charges in county common pleas court.

Last week, Richard John Oleniacz, 55, and Douglas Timothy Oleniacz, 33, each were held for court on charges of intent to possess a controlled substance, two counts possession with intent to deliver, two counts of manufacturing a controlled substance, three counts of tampering with physical evidence and 10 counts of prohibited acts. Richard Oleniacz also was held on a charge of conspiracy.

A Plum police officer on patrol on Sept. 7, 2012, noticed the Oleniaczs' vehicle pulled over on Barking Road. When the officer stopped to see if everything was OK, the officer noticed a trash bag in the immediate area.

Police checked the trash bag and found drug paraphernalia, marijuana leaves and other tools for growing. When police went to the Oleniaczs' Peppertree Drive home, they found more trash bags on the curb with the same materials. Police searched the home and found marijuana, marijuana seeds, plant starters, manuals on how to grow marijuana and other paraphernalia.

An arraignment in Allegheny Court of Common Pleas has been scheduled for July 17.
