Plum Man Hides Gun in Potato Chip Bag, Faces Charges

Dwayne Kareem Feeney, 21, was charged after an incident in Wilkinsburg.

A Plum man faces gun charges in Common Pleas Court following an October incident in Wilkinsburg in which he is accused of hiding a gun inside a potato chip bag.

Dwayne Kareem Feeney, 21, was held for court by District Judge Kim M. Hoots in her Wilkinsburg courtroom last week on a charge of firearms not to be carried without a license.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Wilkinsburg police, officers conducted surveillance on three people who were in the 1500 block of Park Avenue on Oct. 18, 2012. Police watched Feeney walk to the side of a building, then emerge again and walk to a vehicle that drove away.

When the vehicle returned, the officers watched Feeney walk again to the side of the building, and then leave the scene. Police retrieved a Jennings 22-caliber, semi-automatic firearm from inside a potato chip bag.

When the vehicle returned again, police took Feeney to the station. The criminal complaint noted that Feeney was not of legal age to carry a firearm as he did not turn 21 years old until a few weeks after the incident. He faces a formal arraignment in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 21.
