Plum Woman Killed, Child Injured in Penn Hills Accident

Christine Beilstein, 45, of Plum was killed in an accident on Saturday. Her son was injured and taken to Children's Hospital.

A Plum woman has died and her son was injured after a head-on collision on Milltown Road in Penn Hills Saturday.

Just after 1 p.m., a tow truck driven by Duane Charles Woodson of Point Breeze crossed the center line on the road and crashed into a car. The driver of the car, Christine Beilstein, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county medical examiner's office. Her 9-year-old son was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, police said the boy was listed in critical condition with severe head trauma.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Woodson attempted to leave the accident scene on foot after the collision.

Allegheny County Police have charged Woodson, 50, with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road and four counts of accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed.

Woodson has been charged with a number of drug, traffic and disorderly conduct violations in the county since 2004.
