Police Chase Through Swissvale Ends in Penn Twp.

Driver ends up crashing into a tree; Swissvale officers reportedly injured.

KDKA-TV is reporting that a high-speed chase that passed through Friday night ended on Meadowbrook Road in Penn Township, Westmoreland County.

Chartiers Valley Patch local editor Mike Jones was on the Parkway East and reported seeing dozens of police cars with flashing lights and sirens heading out toward Monroeville around 9:10 p.m.

Munhall Crime Alerts reported on Twitter that police were involved in the chase, which began along Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills.

Over the next half hour, the pursuit hit speeds of 100 mph as Pittsburgh and state police, as well as departments from throughout the eastern suburbs of Allegheny County, chased the vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle went over a hill and into a tree, as did one of the police cars, KDKA reports.

WTAE reports that a Swissvale police officer driving a sport utility vehicle was chasing the car when both vehicles went over a hill. WTAE reports that the officer suffered a leg injury.

WTAE quotes authorities as saying one of the suspects bailed from the car and was arrested by a K-9 officer on Meadowbrook Road.
