Police Raid Oakmont Bar

A local bar owner has been charged with operating illegal gambling devices.

The owner of an Oakmont bar has been charged with operating illegal gambling devices in his establishment.

Oakmont police Chief David DiSanti said borough officers and officials from the Allegheny County Narcotics Division and the PA Liquor Control Board raided Steve's Inn on Allegheny Avenue a few weeks ago.

He said officials found gambling machines and drug paraphernalia in the bar. DiSanti said the liquor license for Steve's Inn has been suspended.

Owner Stephen Yohler, 60, was charged with conspiracy and two counts of gambling devices. Allegheny County police filed the charges.

Yohler's preliminary hearing before Plum District Justice Linda Zucco is scheduled for June 5 at 9 a.m.

According to the liquor control board website, the bar also was cited in 1996 and 2003 for operating gambling devices illegally. Tax-related and code violation citations also were issued in 1997, 1999, 2011 and 2012.
