Schools Receive Safety Message from Oakmont VFD

The Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department visited three area schools last week to offer safety advice during Fire Prevention Week.

Local children learned about fire safety from the pros last week.

The Oakmont Fire Department talked with students at Tenth Street Elementary, Saint Irenaeus School and St. Thomas Church during the National Fire Protection Association's Fire Prevention Week. 

This year's theme was "Have Two Ways Out," which focuses on fire escape planning and practice.

Department, and other firefighters visited with children, spoke with them about fire safety and handed out informational bags for them to take home. Some students who answered trivia questions received T-shirts.

Unity Fire Department in Plum also visited children at area schools.
