Teenager Killed in Turnpike Accident Near Plum

A White Oak teenager died after an turnpike accident on Saturday.

A 19-year-old victim has been identified after a fatal accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike early Saturday morning.

John Light of White Oak died almost immediately after a one-vehicle accident on the turnpike in Plum, near the Plum-Oakmont service plaza along mile marker 49, according to the county medical examiner's office.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Light lost control of his Chevy pickup truck while traveling eastbound just after 1 a.m. Saturday. His truck struck the median, and Light  was ejected from the vehicle and hit his head against the turnpike wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Light was a 2011 graduate of McKeesport Area Senior High School.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
