Two Men Charged in Connection to Wave Pool Shooting

A 20-year-old from Penn Hills and a teen from Homewood have been charged after shots were fired at the Boyce Park Wave Pool earlier this month.

Two men are in jail after being charged in connection to near the Boyce Park Wave Pool entrance in Monroeville (close to the Plum border).

Allegheny County police have charged Deshawn Hall, 20, of Penn Hills with aggravated assault, conspiracy, disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime, prohibited acts and driving with a suspended license. J'Vante Hampton, 18, of Homewood was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault, conspiracy, disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering another person and possessing and instrument of crime.

Charges were filed on July 7, and preliminary hearings have been scheduled for July 24 at 1 p.m. at the office of Monroeville District Justice Jeffrey Herbst.

Hall and Hampton are being held at the Allegheny County Jail. The judge has ordered Hall's bail to be set at $25,000 and Hampton's at $50,000.

This is the third year in a row shots have been fired at the wave pool. several local police departments responded to the pool in June after multiple shots were fired during a fight in the parking lot. In June 2010, there also was an incident involving two gunmen at the parking lot outside the wave pool, in which an 18-year-old was charged.
