Two Men Injured in Plum Vehicle Entrapment

Police and fire crews responded to an accident at New Texas and Briarwood where two men were injured and entrapped.

Two men were injured in a car accident early Wednesday in Plum after becoming entrapped in their vehicle in a ditch.

The driver told police he swerved at the intersection of New Texas Road and Briarwood Lane to avoid hitting a deer.

The accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when the driver hit a guardrail and drove into a ditch on the right side of the road, trapping the men inside.

Fire crews responded and mechanically extricated the men, both 21 years old.

Police reported a smell of alcohol on both men and said charges were pending upon the receipt of medical tests.

The men had moderate injuries and were transported and treated at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt, according to the accident report.
