Verona Accident Causes Power Outage, Small Fire

Verona emergency officials responded to an accident on Wildwood Avenue early Sunday morning.

An early-morning vehicle accident in Verona left some residents without power Sunday.

At about 2:30 a.m., borough police and firefighters were dispatched to the 500 block of Wildwood Avenue—by the Verona Motor Sales—for an accident.

According to Ray Suchevich, Verona fire chief, the driver of a vehicle traveling on the road hit a parked car into an electric pole, knocking down some wires.

The lines were sparking, and that caused a small fire in the wooded area near the scene, Suchevich said. Officials then had to wait for Duquesne Light to respond.

Some residents in the area experienced "on and off" power outages, according to Suchevich.
