Verona Man, Brother Charged in Cocaine Trafficking Conspiracy

Corey and Christopher Thompson have been indicted by a federal grand jury.

A Verona resident and his brother have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws.

According to a press release by United States Attorney David J. Hickton, Corey Thompson, 27, of 755 East Railroad Ave. in Verona, and his brother, Christopher Thompson, 33, of 1405 Pennsylvania Ave. in West Mifflin, conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine last month.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of no less than five years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both—for each. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any,
of the accused.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
