Absentee Voting Deadline Approaching

Allegheny County residents should request absentee ballots as soon as possible.

Allegheny County's deadline for absentee ballots is fast approaching.

If a resident will be absent from his or her municipality for the upcoming May 17 primary, he or she must apply for an absentee ballot before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10.

Absentee ballots also are available to people who can't vote in person due to illness or physical disability.

To request an absentee ballot, visit the Allegheny County Elections division at the County Office Building on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh or call 412-350-4520. The ballot will then be mailed to the voter after the application is processed.

For the quickest results, the Elections Division recommends applying in person, which officials said only takes a few minutes if the voter is properly registered. The applicant can then vote on the spot and turn in the ballot.

The Elections Division is requesting that voters apply for ballots as soon as possible.

Absentee ballots must be returned to the Election Division no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 13.
