Four Fight for Three Open Seats on Verona Council

Here's a look at the candidates for Verona Council.

Two incumbents, a former councilman and a newcomer are running for three four-year terms on Verona Council.

All Democrats, Dominic Conte, Sandra Drabicki-Bell, Kier Ewing Jr. and Kevin Larkin are hoping for a spot on council.

In the primary, Conte, Drabicki-Bell and Larkin secured the Democratic nomination. Conte, Drabicki-Bell and Ewin secured the Republican nomination.

Here's a look at the candidates:

Dominic Conte, incumbent—Conte currently is vice president of council and is running for a second term. He is the chairperson of the parks and recreation and road department. Conte has owns an excavating business.

Sandra Drabicki-Bell, incumbent—The current council president is running for a second term. A teacher in the Riverview School District, she participates and volunteers in council and chamber of commerce events.

Kier Ewing Jr., newcomer—Ewing works at Kier G. Ewing & Associates Inc. insurance company in Verona. He is a Verona Business District Advisory Committee board member, as well as a Verona Chamber of Commerce board member. Ewing also has supported the Verona Fall Festival.

Kevin Larkin, former councilman—Larkin is hoping for another chance on council. He previously served on Verona Council for nine years and currently is a member of the borough's zoning hearing board. Larkin was one of the Verona Fall Festival founders.
