Keystone Collections Group Schedules Informational Seminars

Employers can learn about changes to the earned income tax collection system beginning next year.

Keystone Collections Group, the tax collector chosen by the Allegheny Southeast Tax Collection Committee, will provide employer seminars throughout the area to explain state mandated changes to the earned-income tax collection system.

Next year, the system throughout the state will change due to the Earned Income Tax Collection Consolidation Act—Act 32 of 2008—which reduces the number of earned income tax collectors to no more than 69.

Currently, there are 560 different tax collectors, according to the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

The Allegheny Southeast tax collection district includes Plum, Oakmont, Verona, the Plum School District and the Riverview School District.

Keystone Collections Group, which is based in Irwin, will begin tax collection under the new system on Jan. 1.

Free educational sessions—meant for employers but open to residents—will be held at the following dates and locations:

June 22—Monroeville Municipal Building, 2700 Monroeville Blvd. in Monroeville, at 7 p.m.

June 23—McKeesport Area High School auditorium, 1960 Eden Park Blvd. in McKeesport, at 7 p.m.

July 11—Penn Hills High School auditorium, 12200 Garland Drive in Penn Hills, at 1 p.m.; Woodland Hills High School auditorium, 2430 Greensburg Pike in Forest Hills, at 7 p.m.

July 18—South Allegheny High School auditorium, 2743 Washington Blvd. in Port Vue, at 9 a.m.; Woodland Hills High School auditorium, 2430 Greensburg Pike in Forest Hills, at 7 p.m.

July 25—East Allegheny High School auditorium, 1150 Jacks Run Road in North Versailles, at 7 p.m.

Aug. 1—Gateway High School auditorium, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. in Monroeville, at 1:30 p.m.

Aug. 2—Elizabeth-Forward Middle School auditorium, 401 Rock Run Road in Elizabeth, at 9 a.m.

Aug. 3—Plum High School auditorium, 900 Elicker Road in Plum, at 1 p.m.

Aug. 16—Elizabeth-Forward Middle School auditorium, 401 Rock Run Road in Elizabeth, at 9 a.m.
