Local Officials Urge Homeowners Facing Foreclosure to Attend Seminar

The meeting will be held July 19 at the Futules' Harmar House in Cheswick.

County Council Member Nick Futules is urging Allegheny County homeowners who are facing foreclosure to seek the federal government’s Emergency Homeowner’s Loan Program (EHLP), which offers a declining balance, bridge loan of up to $50,000 to assist qualifying homeowners with delinquent payments.

A seminar—hosted by state Rep. Frank Dermody (D-Oakmont) and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA)—designed to inform homeowners confronting mortgage difficulties about EHLP and how to prevent foreclosure will be held July 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Futules' Harmar House, 1321 Freeport Road, Cheswick.

Futules—his district covers Plum, Oakmont and Verona—said he hopes homeowners will attend the upcoming informational seminar.

“Nationally and locally we are reaching out to help citizens with mortgage difficulties,” Futules said. “State Representative Dermody’s seminar will inform people about the EHLP program so they are not foreclosed.

“The key is for homeowners to seek out the service. Many facing foreclosure don’t look for assistance. I highly recommend anyone in need to attend the seminar at the Harmar House on July 19th. Officials will be there to help.”
