Mausoleum Plans to go Before Oakmont Zoning Hearing Board

The borough zoning hearing board will meet on Tuesday, June 25.

Plans for a new mausoleum at the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery will go before the Oakmont Zoning Hearing Board next week.

On June 25 at 7 p.m., the board will meet in council chambers to discuss plans for the new structure. The cemetery is located on Pennsylvania Avenue between Tenth and Twelfth streets.

Plans call for the razing of the current 1,742 square-foot structure to build a new 2,8776 square-foot mausoleum. The property is located in an R-2 residential zone. The new building exceeds 10 percent of the existing building's size, so a variance in needed before the project can continue.

If approved, the project is expected to create several new burial chambers and spaces for urns.
