Oakmont Council Notebook: December Voting Meeting
Hulton Bridge project, hiring of a police officer and recycling were among the things discussed.

Hulton Bridge project
Construction on the new Hulton Bridge should start in 2014, according to borough officials.

The $82.5 million project will including replacing the old bridge with a new four-lane one and reconstruction of the intersection of Freeport and Hulton roads.
Eighty percent of the project funding will come from federal funds and 20 percent from the state.

New Police Officer Hired
Chris Whaley was hired as the borough's new full-time police officer.
Whaley is a veteran Pittsburgh police officer. Police chief David DiSanti said he’s “very happy” to have Whaley joining the force.
Oakmont Recreation Board
Council members approved a request by the borough’s recreation board to file for non-profit status at a cost not to exceed $850.
Recycling bins
Ecology Club members at Riverview High School will have a few new recycling bins, thanks to council members who approved the donation of 15 of the containers and lids to the club.
