Plum May Bring Additional Tax Help on Board

The borough is considering adding additional help to its earned income tax staff and will vote on the hires at its meeting next Monday.

Plum may add two additional employees to its team, but council doesn’t anticipate adding much more to its payroll.

Council members discussed hiring Lisa Lagnese as an earned income tax clerk at their work session Monday night. If hired, she would work 40 hours a week through June 30, 2012.

Lagnese would be paid $16 an hour. Council members said the hire would present a savings to the borough because the position would not include benefits.

The borough has also requested to hire a fourth person to fill an earned income tax position.

The candidate, Eric Johnson, would work two days per week during earned income tax season and one or two months afterward.  He already works part time for the borough.

If filled, it’s likely both positions would start the week of April 18, assistant borough secretary Maria Gingery said on Wednesday.

Council will vote on the hires at its regular meeting Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 4575 Center New Texas Road.
