Rick Santorum Declared Actual Winner in Iowa

Official count out this morning says Romney really lost by 34 votes.

Results from eight precincts are still missing, the Register reported, but they will never be recovered and certified.

That means that according to the certified numbers, Santorum comes out on top, with 29,839 votes to Romney's 29,805. Romney had been declared the winner on caucus night , which helped propel him to a big win in the New Hampshire Primary.

Also today, a new poll has Newt Gingrich closing on Romney in South Carolina, whose residents go to the polls on Saturday.
