Steve's Inn, Charlie O's Owe Drink Tax

Two local bars owe the drink tax to Allegheny County.

in Oakmont hasn't paid the mandatory 7 percent drink tax this year, according to Allegheny County records.

The online records, released by the county last week, show the Allegheny Avenue bar didn’t pay the Alcoholic Beverage Tax from January 2012 to June 2012.

The Oakmont bar is one of nearly 80 establishments that allegedly did not pay the tax revenue. County officials said they confirmed that each of the bars and restaurants are collecting the tax revenue but did not forward it to the treasurer.

“Each vendor was given every opportunity to pay the tax due and was notified that their name would appear on this list if the tax was not paid,” the county said in a press release.

If the businesses still does not pay the drink tax, which was established in 2008, then Allegheny County can sue them and ultimately could liquidate the vendor’s assets and liquor licenses.

Charlie O's on Coxcomb Hill Road in Plum also is included on the list as a closed establishment with an outstanding tax liability. The county reports that the property did not pay the drink tax for most months ever since December 2009.
