Verona Parking Fines, Permit Fees to Increase Next Year

See how much more you'll have to pay.

Beginning next year, parking fines and permit fees in Verona will increase.

On Tuesday, borough council agreed to increase parking fines in the business district as well as the cost of permit parking throughout the borough.

Fees will increase from $10 to $15 for people who park on Allegheny River Boulevard for more than the allowed two hours. Permit parking on the borough lots along East Railroad Avenue and on select roads throughout the borough will increase from $10 per month to $15 for residents/business owners and to $20 for everyone else.

Officials said it has been years since the fees have changed.

"We want it to still be affordable for people," said Councilwoman Peggy Suchevich.

Councilman Tony Futules said officials should take the time to promote the borough parking lots in an attempt to attract people who take the bus.
