Center Elementary Students Participate in 'Operation Quiet Comfort'

Plum elementary school students helped create quilts for national service men and women.

In honor of Constitution Day last month, Center Elementary students and faculty took part in a service project called "Operation Quiet Comfort," to honor national service men and women.

"Operation Quiet Comfort" is a national benefit organization that honors and comforts those who become sick or wounded while protecting and serving the U.S.

Students and faculty donated demin squares. Students then wrote notes of thanks and encourangement on their squares, which will be put together to make four quilts. Those quilts will be given to wounded warriors who are medically evacuated, sick or injured, and recovering.

School Principal Jeff Hadley said it was the perfect project to incorporate with Constitution Day.

"It's a day where we remember the foundation of our country," he said. "Why not remember the men and women who are ensuring we are safe?"
