Plum Borough School District Searching for Elementary School Principal

The school board is looking to hire a principal before the start of the school year.

Regency Park Elementary School will get yet another principal beginning next school year.

Effective July 1, the combined position of Special Education/Regency Park Principal was eliminated and two positions—Director of Special Education and Pupil Services and Principal of Regency Park Elementary School—were created.

Kathleen Shirey, who the board hired last year for the combined position, now will act solely as the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services. Shirey was the third person acting as the Regency principal since last September, when Cheryl Levin retired. Margaret Evans also served as an interim in between Levin and Shirey.

School board President Andy Drake said having the merged position was not a successful move for the district. He said based on the information and performance factors over the last year, it was in the district's best interest to go back to having a full time principal at Regency.

The district is accepting applications for the principal position until July 13. Anyone interested in the position or applying can find more information on the Plum Borough School District website.
