Public Hearing for New Holiday Park School Set for Thursday

A public hearing to discuss the new Holiday Park Elementary School in Plum Borough will be held later this week.

A public hearing to discuss the new Holiday Park Elementary School in Plum Borough will be held later this week.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at the high school. School officials will discuss plans to build a new school at the existing Adlai Stevenson Elementary School site.

Plans call for Adlai Stevenson to be demolished and the current Holiday Park Elementary to close. The new school will be called Holiday Park Elementary.

Borough council approved site plans for the school on June 10. The project is expected to cost between $13.8 million and $20 million.

The new school—expected to mirror the new George Pivik Elementary School on School Road—should be open to students some time during the 2014-15 school year. A liquidation auction was held at Adlai Stevenson last weekend before demolition occurs.
