Riverview School Board Hires New Superintendent

Margaret DiNinno will replace Chuck Erdeljac in the summer.

Riverview School District will have a new superintendent this summer.

On Monday, the school board unanimously voted to hire Margaret "Peggy" DiNinno as district superintendent. Her four-year contract begins July 1.

DiNinno currently is the superintendent at Apollo-Ridge School District. She will be replacing longtime Riverview Superintendent Chuck Erdeljac, who at the end of the school year.

The board received about for the superintendent position.

DiNinno started her education career as a reading specialist at the Ligonier Valley School District for two years. After that, she was a middle school teacher at the Penn-Trafford School District for seven years.

After a one-year stint as assistant principal at North Hills Junior High School, she returned to Penn-Trafford as assistant to the superintendent in 2004 and became Apollo-Ridge's superintendent in 2009.

Principal Jay Moser thanked the board for allowing administrators, teachers and parents to participate in the interview process. He presented DiNinno with her first Riverview School District shirt.

DiNinno said she was impressed with the district's hiring process. She said she loved visiting the district's schools and meeting the students, teachers and parents.

"It makes me so excited to join your team," DiNinno told the board. "I can't wait."
