District solicitor Megan Ott said the district is facing an unknown because of the county's pending property reassessments. It could be a problem for the district's budgetary process.

County officials had been ordered to complete reassessments by January 2011, but a tentative release date currently is April 1. Property owners then would be be given about a month to review the values before the district.

Ott said with the reassessments coming in so late, it would put the district at a disadvantage because school officials won't know where they stand in terms of real estate tax figures. District officials must decide by January if they are going to apply for exceptions or seek a referendum vote to raise taxes more than the allowed state index.

Ott said the communities of Oakmont and Verona already have been reassessed, and it's a possibility that reassessment values for communities that are completed could be released before all others.
