Here's a roundup of items discussed at last week's Riverview School Board regular voting meeting:
School Board Member
The school board is in the process of searching for a ninth board member.

was officially accepted last week. Five people applied for the position, and they will be interviewed.
The board expects to make a decision at its March 19 meeting. Members thanked Hornsby for his service on the board.

Computer System
The district computer system will be getting an upgrade. The board approved a $20,430 contract with Computer Centerline Technologies for the upgrades.
Hiring
The board hired Judene Sykes as a central office secretary for special education nd financial services. She will be paid $36,509 per year with benefits. Sykes will undergo a 60-working day performance probation period. Sykes is replacing Linda Tamburro, who was transferred to the superintendent's secretary position.
Supplementals
The following supplemental appointments were made:
- Nicholas Buchser—assistant Junior Varsity baseball coach
- Mario Rometo—assistant track coach
- Jessica Dayhoff, Ashley Goodsell and Stacey Mitchell—volunteer track coaches
Contribution
Conco Systems of Verona donated $1,000 to the district to support the 2012 BOTS IQ Robotics Competitions. The board thanked the Saxon family for their generous contribution.

The next regular school board meeting will be held on March 19 at 7 p.m. at Verner Elementary School in Verona.
